Integrated Platform for the Treatment, Monitoring and Safe Reuse of Water in Climate-Vulnerable Environments (PURAGUA)

PURAGUA

Integrated paltform for the treatment, monitoring and safe reurse of water in environments vulnerable to climate change

Description

PURAGUA aims to combine new in situ monitoring technologies with disruptive solutions for the efficient and sustainable removal of emerging contaminants—both chemical (e.g., pesticides, antibiotics, hydrocarbons, etc.) and biological agents (bacteria, viruses and antibiotic resistance).

It integrates next-generation biotechnological and physicochemical technologies capable of tackling a wide variety of waterborne contaminants, including chemical (xenobiotic) and microbiological pollutants. The system combines enzymatic biocatalysis using immobilised enzymes, advanced adsorption with biogenic activated carbons, filtration, disinfection and in situ oxidation through electrochemical tecnhologies, enabling effective treatment even under complex real-world conditions.

EUROFINS ACTIVITY | IPROMA

Study of new protocols for detecting biological and xenobiotic parameters using rapid analytical techniques and/or SERS-based sensors.

Setup and validation of a device for the preparation and analysis of biological samples, including resistance genes.

Control of xenobiotics, bacteria, viruses and resistance markers for the assessment of irrigation- and drinking-water treatments using tertiary (enzymatic systems) and quaternary (advanced oxidation) processes.

Assistance with the design and development of numerical models for tracking and predicting generated data using digital twins and Bayesian networks.
